My friend came from Japan for a visit, and she wanted to meet me for lunch at Banana Leaf since we had had a really good memory from our previous visit.
The restaurant was filled with greenery, giving a vibe of Mother Nature enveloping you. After having a difficult time choosing just one dish from the extensive menu, I opted for the solo adventure platter to try a little bit of everything. All the components on the platter, except roti canai, were tasty. Roti canai, on the other hand, was cold and not flaky. I was surprised because Banana Leaf had never failed to put out warm, flaky roti canai before. Thankfully, my friend really liked her Hainanese chicken and mango papaya salad. The salad was super fresh and flavourful. It was so good that I would come back to Banana Leaf just to eat the salad again.
Lastly, we both really appreciated our server Live. She was so down-to-earth, and she made sure that we were enjoying our experience at Banana Leaf.

Yum… We had such a lovely experience at Banana Leaf on Broadway! We opted for their 10-course tasting menu ($65 per person), and it was worth every penny. Each dish was vibrant, flavourful, and beautifully plated — from the savoury curries and stir-fried veggies to the perfectly cooked rice and the stunning mango sticky rice dessert. You can really taste the love and authenticity in the food.
Service was another highlight …. warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The staff made us feel welcome and checked in often without being intrusive.
The price point isn’t cheap, but it’s absolutely fair for the quality and variety you get. This is a great spot if you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with bold Malaysian flavours.
Our only minor downside was the construction happening outside, which made parking and access a little tricky. But once inside, it was cozy and inviting …..and the food quickly made us forget about the hassle.
Highly recommend for groups, special dinners, or anyone wanting to explore Southeast Asian cuisine in Vancouver! Yum!!

We had a pleasant dining experience in Banana Leaf the other day! We also have Banana Leaf at home so I'm glad to see this restaurant here too. We ordered their classic Hainanese Chicken, Beef Satay, and Eggplant Fries, and they were so good! Will be back to try their Sticky Mango next!

Came with a friend for a quick late-night bite. Food was really good! Atmosphere was also really nice and aesthetic- service was super sweet too and the server was really helpful with the menu. Loved the atmosphere would definitely love to come back in the future to try some different things too

I visited here with the knowledge of tasting the Banana Leaf in Kitsilano and visited here in a time where there weren’t too many people at noon. Both places are very similar in taste and I rate them both fairly equally (both taste really good) but this place has a better atmosphere and better tasting deserts.
As for a general perspective, this place serves amazing Malaysian cuisine with really bold flavours.
