The Sandbar does have a way of leaving one rather well-looked after. This was my second visit and once again the service was attentive to the point of being the true highlight. The food itself is sound, fresh and competently prepared, though it lacks that elusive spark that makes one sit up and say good heavens, that was brilliant. Still, when a restaurant treats you properly and ensures you’re comfortable from start to finish, one forgives the absence of fireworks on the plate. In short, steady cooking paired with exceptional service makes for a respectable return.

We are tourists from Calgary, we came to Vancouver for the delicious seafood, but came to the conclusion that a place 1000km away from the ocean has better seafood. Crab cakes were flavourless and overcooked for a whopping $25 you get a taste. Not to mention the lobster tails also another $25 were overcooked and chewy. I expected a lot more for the expensive price tag. Wasn’t impressed at all. The clam linguine was good though. Our waitress was nice and we were seated right beside the water, beautiful area. It’s too bad the food didn’t match the scenery

I had my pre-birthday celebration with my son at The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant yesterday and it did not disappoint. A beautiful view from the deck (first come, first served in this area there are no reservations) and the wonderful weather made it extra special. Price wise I find it within the range of other top-rated restaurants in Vancouver. Perhaps the only price I found slightly excessive was the 9oz glass of Merlot, but everything else was reasonable. Now, about the taste: exquisite. Garlic Truffle fries that seemed to melt in my mouth, Clam Chowder that would’ve been even more amazing if served in a bread bowl. For the main meal my son had a poke bowl that was fresh and tasty and I had the seafood hot-pot. Everything was really delicious. The only reason I didn’t give service 5 stars was because I mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday and unlike every other place I’ve visited when celebrating my anniversary, it was completely disregarded. Maybe I’m too used to small gestures that go the extra mile in terms of customer service. Regardless, I will definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful time at Sandbar. The food was exceptional. The waiter was very charming but struggled a bit getting the bills sorted and forgot to bring us some extra chips to finish the dip when we asked twice. We ended up giving up and not reminding for a third time. He was extremely polite and I think he was just overwhelmed with our large group. Food was amazing.
Recommendation: the heaters that are placed above the tables get very hot. When they are turned off the cold returns. Would recommend a heater that is more adjustable for temperature.
Thank you for the great experience and food!

Absolutely outstanding dining experience. The sushi was particularly great, as was the service. The squid from the wok was delicious as well if you enjoy hot food. Excellent value for money overall, so I highly recommend the Sandbar. See for yourself and ask for a table by the window.
